A composition in five movements for trumpet and live-electronics. For the computer part, I am processing a bank of samples of trumpet sounds and of speech segments by D. Trump.

Trump. et Legacy is a reshuffled mix of sounds and contexts—(un-) deniable facts and biased opinions, post-truths and blunt lies—all meshed together into a continuous soundscape. I tried to reimagine the material as a sonic jungle full of miscellaneous creatures of various shapes and sizes, some scary and some silly, all yowling and growling at each other and at the listener.

How should we deal with the disorienting influence of social media and video-sharing platforms imposed on us? How to remain creative while being bombarded with (fake-) news content, hate speech, and increasing ideological polarization? How can we reflect on four years of Mr. Trump’s presidency without sinking into existential depression?

By reworking politically “charged” material into musical sounds l tried to shrink the experience down to its rightful size, and to reclaim sanity.
